Music to recommend

If you're up for a laugh may I recommend the CD Fitness to Practice by The Amateur Transplants. You will need to not be offended by needless expletives and have a little medical knowledge (for some songs) but you will find it somewhat funny. A number of the songs can be heard on the link. They're normally well know melodies with the words changed.
I haven't laughed at a song so much in years.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Finished this book in record time, after buying it at just past Midnight on Saturday morning, I got a normal night's sleep and finished it about 7 p.m. Still managed to watch some of the golf!

Another page turner from JKR but still a lot of questions unanswered/ I won't post them her as to not spoil it for those of you who are still reading it. One death was expected and the other major character wasn't.

Tasteless Joke: Downing Street are refusing to comment on the report that PM Gordon Brown's visit to Gloucestershire is in an effort to meet floating voters.

Various things

1. I'm in the process of moving at the moment so posts are going to be sporadic or non-existent until I've actually moved

2. Harry Potter - Movie #5, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - saw the movie last weekend. I actually really enjoyed it, it was lot darker than the previous 4 but on the other hand so is the book. Book 5 is also the longest book so lots was cut, however, considering the length of the book it was a fairly goo screenplay.

3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , book #7. The book is published tomorrow and my local bookshop is opening at Midnight, as it's fairly out of the way, I'm going, hopefully won't be too busy. Was very tempted to read the New York Times review but will resist temptation as I don't want to know what happens.

4. Facebook. Recently signed up to this site and already making contact with people I haven't seen for years as well as more recent friends. Feel free to contact me. Sorry - no photos of me, but some including me, although I haven't identified myself. As any readers of this blog will know, I'm a bit of a cameraphobe.

Changes at work

Being a Civil Servant has it's ups and downs and last week was "interesting".

I used to work for the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). With a new Prime Minister he wasnt to leave his mark and decided to split the Department (referred to as 'Machinery of Government' Changes - MoG for short) so I now work for the Department for Children, schools and Families (DfCSF or DCSF). So we've all had to have e-mail changes, stationery changes (headed paper, business cards, compliments slips etc) creating even more work.

Building collapse

As some of you may know, I work in Westminster and recently a building collapsed near us, here's a photo of the building after the collapse:

Thankfully the mess is now more or less cleared up and I don't have to walk round the back streets to get to work, taking much longer to get in.
