On Sunday we just really relaxed by the pool and just went out to an Australian restaurant named Outback for supper. The waiter was a graduate student studying Political Science and my dad got into a conversation with him about how bad Bush was as president and he asked a few questions about Blair and the House of Lords.
Yesterday we drove up to Flagstaff from Phoenix/Scottsdale via a shopping outlet and Sedona. The altitude in Phoenix is about 400 metres and in Flagstaff it is about 2100 metres so at first breathing was a little hard, some of the views on the way are stupendous.
Today was interesting our Hotel is on Route 66, we drove along it to Williams which is a tiny town with very little to see except a typical old cowboy town and a few shops.
We then drove back to Flagstaff and wandered round the Historic town centre. After that we made out way up to Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, wonderful site, wonderful views of lava flows and all with an explanatory booklet for a trail.
Only thing I found hard was the flies, it's too hot in Phoenix for many insects but there are many in Flagstaff.
Taking a tour to the Grand Canyon tommorow and giving my dad a break from driving.
